Sami Joe extends winning streak

Monday | 22 Mar 2021

Sami-Joe has continued on his winning ways in the eSports WRC Championship presented by Toyota Gazoo Racing, making it four-from-four to start the 2021 season, with his latest victory coming over the weekend in Argentina.

The Lebanese teenager has yet to be usurped from the top of the podium this year, but that does not mean there is any room for complacency, with his latest victory margin just 0.110 secs ahead of his closest rival in the overall standings, Nexl.

It was the first time in the history of the eSports WRC Championship that a round took place over three stages, making the small margin splitting the top-two drivers even more incredulous.

Rounding out the podium was Izamusing – Nexl’s Race Clutch team-mate. It marked the second podium of the year for Izamusing, who on account of scoring 15 points, now also moves into third spot in the overall standings.

Despite missing out on the top spot on the podium, it was nonetheless a strong weekend for Race Clutch, who managed to finish with four drivers inside the top six, with Jonno recording a season-best fourth and Noel coming home in sixth spot. Their top-three drivers recorded 45 points – tied with Seventh Gear E-Sport Club, who were once more spearheaded by Sami-Joe.

This means there is no change at the top of the teams’ standings with Seventh Gear E-Sport Club maintaining their 25-point buffer.

Remarkably, the third to fifth-placed teams also tied on points, meaning Williams eSports hold onto third place overall.

The eSports WRC Championship returns over Easter Weekend (02-05 April), with action heading to the shores of New Zealand for the fifth round of the season.
