Shin Megami Tensei V gameplay and features

While no gameplay footage for Shin Megami Tensei V has been shared yet, the game is likely to include the same core mechanics as the rest of the series. The games are turn-based JRPGs where the player controls a hero who must fight enemies by exploiting their weaknesses to various elements or types of attacks. When fighting demons, players can negotiate with them to get them to join them in future battles. These demons can be leveled up or fused into more powerful forms.

Choice typically plays a major role in the Shin Megami Tensei series. The ending you get will depend on the decisions you’ve made along the way.

Do you need to play any of the previous Shin Megami Tensei games?

Like the Persona series, the Shin Megami Tensei games include the same themes and mechanics but all feature different stories and characters. So you don’t need to have played any of the previous games to jump into Shin Megami Tensei V.

What is the plot of Shin Megami Tensei V

The Shin Megami Tensei games are all set in a version of Tokyo that’s at the center of a cosmic war between angels and demons and the trailers makes it clear that Shin Megami Tensei V won’t be an exception. God is dead and chaos has fallen over the world, though your hero will have the potential to remake it into something new. By embracing your destiny, you’ll have the chance to save humanity or destroy it.

When will Shin Megami Tensei V be released?

The game will be available sometime in 2021, though a specific release date has yet to be announced.
