After the record-breaking MLB The Show 21, first-party team Sony San Diego Studio will add an additional platform to MLB The Show 22’s roster, as the series is set to make its Nintendo Switch debut. The game – officially due out on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on 5th April – will feature full crossplay and cross-progression. It’ll be available at no extra cost with Xbox Game Pass, but will retail for $59.99 on PS4 and $69.99 on PS5. That’s the second year in a row that the PlayStation Studios published game has debuted on Microsoft’s subscription service.
As we predicted previously, double-threat pitching and batting superstar Shohei Ohtani will be the cover star, and you can check out the awesome Los Angeles Angels coloured art below:
For now, Sony is keeping gameplay details and information under wraps, but just like last year it’s planning a series of Feature Premieres to run through until launch. The Stadium Creator will once again be exclusive to new-gen consoles, and if you pre-order you’ll get a free Gold Choice Pack, so unsurprisingly, the uber-popular team-building mode Diamond Dynasty will also return.
And that’s all she wrote for now. Are you fussed about the Xbox Game Pass inclusion for a second straight year? Don’t worry, we think we said everything there was to say about that all the way back in 2021.
