Square Enix announces that the Nintendo Switch exclusive tactical strategy-RPG Triangle Strategy will be coming to the Steam PC platform this month. This RPG was originally released earlier this year, being similar to Square Enix’s own Final Fantasy Tactics or Nintendo’s Fire Emblem series. This game was created by Team Asano, who was also behind Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler. It released to generally favorable reviews, being praised for its intricate storytelling, the deep strategy mechanics, and its detailed plot-branching routes.
With this incredibly positive reception, it’s no surprise that the game is coming to PC. Both Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default 2 ended up getting PC ports to Steam not too long after their initial releases and exclusivity on the Switch. Octopath Traveler itself has ended up on many different platforms, including the Xbox. Triangle Strategy is no exception, with this game following the same pattern, where it will be coming to the PC platform this month.
Square Enix announced this through its official Twitter account, noting that fans won’t have to wait too long in order to get this port for themselves, revealing its official release date too. Triangle Strategy will be coming to the PC on October 13, meaning there will be less than two weeks between its announcement and release. As a bonus, gamers who pre-purchase the game on Steam will get 10% off, which will only be available until the game launches.
The Digital Deluxe version includes both the game and a digital mini-artbook that fans can download. This includes artwork from the development of the game, which has been cataloged from 2018-2022. There is also a bundle that can be packaged with both Triangle Strategy and Various Daylife, which is a former smartphone action RPG that surprise launched on both the Nintendo Switch and PC. This bundle provides a 34% discount if the games are bought together, with a Various Daylife artbook included as well.
Alongside Triangle Strategy‘s imminent release on PC, Team Asano has been hard at work developing the sequel to Octopath Traveler, which is set to launch as a Nintendo Switch exclusive next February. This upcoming sequel follows the same HD-2D graphical style as some other games from Square Enix’s library, such as Live A Live remake and the Dragon Quest 3 remake. It will be interesting to see if Octopath Traveler 2 will follow the same route as Triangle Strategy and other Team Asano games and be ported to PC shortly after its release.
Triangle Strategy is available now on Nintendo Switch, with a PC version coming October 13, 2022.
