Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak doesn’t arrive until Summer of next year but fans eager for more details about the upcoming premium expansion for the Nintendo Switch title will want to keep an eye out early next year. Capcom teased that more news for Sunbreak will be shared in Spring 2022. That’s all the company offered via social media, but it’s enough to drive hype into the new year.
Details for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak have been sparse since the expansion was first announced in September. We know the next chapter in the Monster Hunter Rise saga will take us to a new land where players will encounter a new storyline with more monsters, new locales, gameplay elements, a new quest rank and more.
A second teaser trailer was shared at The Game Awards earlier this month, revealing the land of perilous adventure to be called Elgado.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak currently has a summer release window. It will be available simultaneously for Nintendo Switch and PC. Speaking of PC, the wait is almost over as Monster Hunter Rise is set to arrive on January 12, 2022. Unfortunately, there are no plans for the game to release on PlayStation or Xbox consoles.
Despite having released only on Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Rise has been an incredible success for Capcom. The game has sold more than 7.5 million copies, making it the second best-selling game in the franchise behind only Monster Hunter World.
It’s certainly deserving of such incredible sales. In our review of the game, we called it an absolute must play for fans of the series, or even for people just looking for a fun action-adventure on the Nintendo Switch. The game doesn’t break too far from what was offered in Monster Hunter World, in terms of gameplay, but does improve upon it with new features such as the wirebug, which adds more verticality in the gameplay as well.
