The Nintendo Switch is available at a bargain price from Amazon UK. At the moment, you can pick up the neon red/neon blue version of the Nintendo Switch for £229. This marks a saving of £30 on the console’s typical RRP of £259. This new price point was introduced this year in the UK, with the Nintendo Switch previously costing £279 for years.
With the money you save on the price of a Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to put that towards the cost of a game.
Amazon has slashed the prices of plenty of Nintendo Switch games as well, with titles such as Pokemon Shining Pearl, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Mario Golf Super Rush all available at a discount price.
If you haven’t yet bought a Switch, but have been thinking of picking one up for awhile, then now’s an ideal time to do so.
And not just because of this great deal Amazon is running right now, but because Nintendo has warned of impending stock issues in 2022.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently warned that the global semiconductor shortage, which has heavily impacted PS5 and Xbox Series X stock levels, will also affect Switch supply for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to Kyoto Shimbun, Furukawa-san said: “For Nintendo Switch hardware, we reduced our forecast by 1.50 million units to 24.00 million units. Our shipment forecast for the second half was reduced because of the change in our production plan due to the effects of the global semiconductor shortage. On the other hand, we revised the Nintendo Switch software forecast up by 10.00 million units to 200.00 million units based on the sales performance of the first half.”
In the US over Christmas major retailers such as Best Buy, Target, and GameStop had all sold out of the standard version of the Nintendo Switch.
In the UK, the regular Nintendo Switch and the Switch OLED are more readily available.
However, it remains to be seen whether the stock shortages that have hit retailers in the US could cross the pond and affect UK stores in 2022.
This year will be an exciting time to own a Nintendo Switch, with plenty of high-profile releases pencilled in.
The biggest of which is undoubtedly The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, but there are plenty of other unmissable games on the horizon this year.
Other Switch games launching in 2022 include Pokemon Legends Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Sonic Frontiers, Advance Wars 1+2, Bayonetta 3, Triangle Strategy, and more.
