Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Feb 12th)

Welcome to the weekend and Happy Valentines Day for Sunday if you’re celebrating it! There’s plenty to enjoy on Xbox over the next couple of days including a new batch of Xbox Game Pass titles, three more Free Play Days inclusions, and don’t forget the absolutely massive Xbox Lunar New Year 2021 sale!

Here’s what we’re playing over the next couple of days:

I’ve spent a fair bit of this week finally jumping into Watch Dogs: Legion, and I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying it so far! I’ve never really been invested in the series, but it looks so good on Xbox Series X, and the world is so brilliantly realised that I can look past some of the clunky gameplay and mission structure elements.

When I’m not playing Watch Dogs, I’m probably going to be back on my Xbox 360 kick. I picked up a used copy of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa this week – probably my favourite FIFA game of all time – and it’s still a ton of fun, even all these years later. Plus, the incredible Burnout 3: Takedown continues to dominate my time.

Have a good weekend, folks!

As with every week, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is consuming my time. Honestly, I’m having such a blast staying up late as I blast my way through its multiplayers – I’m pretty good! There’s something glorious about riding your way around Sandtrap and reliving the glory days of Halo 3 multiplayer that will never get out old.

Outside of that, the recent Mass Effect Legendary Edition announcement has got me wanting to dive back into the series one way or another. So I’m checking out Mass Effect Andromeda again. I’ve always defended the game (despite its questionable facial animations). Its combat is extremely punchy and chaotic, and it’s still visually stunning today. I haven’t played it since it originally launched, so I’m curious to see what, if any, improvements have been made.

I’ve promised my partner we’ll play some kart racers on Valentine’s Day, too. So expect some loving competition as we battle it out on Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2. Have a great weekend, folks!

Last weekend, as you might recall, I was revisiting Dead or Alive 3 on the original Xbox. Since then, I’ve moved onto Dead or Alive 6 on the Xbox Series X. At the moment, I’m just playing the free-to-play version while I wait for my new full copy of the game to arrive in the mail. I had not really given the latest entry a chance until now and I’m not sure why. It’s got a great sense of flow about it. About the only downside is how restrictive the free-to-play version seems to be – with very few playable fighters and costumes on offer.

Apart from this, it’ll probably be returning to Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Fable II via Xbox Game Pass. I’ve also been slowly working my way through Hotshot Racing. I wasn’t a big fan originally, but it seems to have grown on me over the past few months. I’d highly recommend it now, if you are into any old school arcade racing games.

Hello. This weekend I’ll be very quickly wrapping up what I’ve got left of Little Nightmares before diving into its much-anticipated sequel, a game Daniel certainly seemed to enjoy in his 8/10 review, as well as slowly making more progress in the fantastic Sekiro, a game I’ve beaten already but just had to jump back into when I heard it now runs at a silky smooth 4K/60fps on Series X.

Elsewhere, I’ve also got Jurassic World Evolution downloaded and ready to go from Game Pass. I’ve only actually experienced this one on the Switch thus far and it’s been an absolute blast full of seriously gruesome comedic potential, so I’m definitely looking forward to trying it out with all the graphical bells and whistles set to max.

Have a good weekend whatever you guys are up to or playing and stay safe out there!
