The developers behind the fantastic Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, as well as the Ps5’s Astro’s Playroom, have been able to make some of the most charming games on the PlayStation Platformer, as shown with their two previous titles, being one of the system’s many mascots. However, Team Asobi has the backing of Sony, and they’re more than happy to be putting their faith in their new company. With the launch of the developer’s new site, they’re making it known that they hold the same philosophy of the gamers that have enjoyed their titles as well, keeping their titles fun and engaging for all audiences. However, it seems that Team Asobi is working on something new.

When going to Team Asobi’s website, the company shows the two titles they’ve worked on for the PlayStation brand. Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, and Astro’s Playroom. However, on their about page, this is written. “We are a new and dynamic PlayStation Studio based in vibrant Tokyo, Japan. We create top-quality games for players of all ages on PlayStation®. Our latest work is the critically acclaimed ASTRO BOT: Rescue Mission for Playstation®VR and ASTRO’s PLAYROOM for PlayStation®5. We’re currently hard at work on our most ambitious game yet!”

They’re currently working on a new title and will be their most ambitious game yet. The question is, what could they be working on, however, looking into the previous games the company has made, puts focus on what they could be making in the future.

Consider their first game Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, a hallway-based 3d platformer, not unlike Crash bandicoot. Their first Game being made completely in VR, which seemingly pushed the ps4 to its limits while playing the game. However, there’s more to it than that. Astro’s Playroom was an expanded version of Rescue Mission, albeit it wasn’t a VR title. But the game had expanded into a full 3D sandbox environment and took advantage of the PS5’s hardware to make the game show off what the console could do. However, Playroom was a tech demo, and I think the next step for the developer, and this new title they’re working on could take what Team Asobi has learned, and make a new Astro Bot game that uses all of the features from their previous titles.

One of the biggest things about the company’s site is that Rescue Mission and Playroom are considered to be two separate titles, even if Playroom doesn’t feel like a full game and is more of a tech demo of the console. While this is all speculation, the possibility that Team Asobi is going to make a trilogy of Astro Bot games is highly likely, as many series come in 3’s consider something like Crash Bandicoot, or Spyro, both 3d platformers, and both remembered fondly as coming in 3’s. However, while both of those games have more games after that, the trilogy is something that’s rooted into the minds of player’s all around the world. Adding to the fact that More can be done with Astro Bot, especially on the PS5, makes for some interesting speculation as to what can be done with the 3rd title from Team Asobi.

For one, there’s a chance that this game is going to come out after the announcement of the PSVR 2, and with the new headset and controllers for the console, the possibility of the game being in VR is one thing. However, using Astro Bot the same way that he worked in Rescue Mission is one thing, but there could be another way that VR could be implemented into this new ambitious title. That being that the player will take control of Astro Bot this time, being that the new Move controllers are going to have analog thumb sticks, and will be able to work in the same fashion as any other VR controller. The possibility of Climbing, Jumping, and running through the world, as well as using the feedback and other implementations that the Dual Sense uses on the Vr Controllers would make for an engaging and wild adventure.

Combining this with the possibility of a 2-player co-op mode between VR and controller would make for an exciting and ambitious addition to the game, where two players can complete puzzles and work together, with one player taking control of Astro, and another player taking control of a character that has a similar, yet different move set, with both complimenting their partner’s playstyles. Perhaps the VR Player can enter sections of the map that the screen player might not be able to, or maybe the VR Player can climb something that the other player cannot.

Regardless, nothing is truly known about the new game being developed by Team Asobi, however, something that is known is that the company is hiring right now, offering anyone who has experience in Game Design, Art Design, 3d Modeling, and More to apply. Team Asobi is holding applications for 13 jobs on their website at the moment, and is aiming to add to their team of diverse workers.
