Techland Has Shown Off Dying Light 2’s Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Performance – GameSpew

Techland has released a video showing Dying Light 2 Stay Human running on the “old” generation of consoles.

Why? Ostensibly it’s so you can have a peek at it running on the Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. “Dying Light 2 Stay Human on your old gen consoles? We’ve got a comparison video for you. Check it out!reads Techland’s tweet.

What the developer didn’t say was “We absolutely, honestly promise that this isn’t going to be another Cyberpunk 2077“. But we strongly suspect that someone at Techland brought up the fact that, while CD Projekt Red’s futuristic action-RPG ran well on “new” gen consoles, it had issues on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The good news is that, going by the videos Techland has provided, Dying Light 2 runs acceptably well on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and, as you’d expect, a little better on the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. We wouldn’t describe the action, as it appears in the video, as buttery smooth, but there’s no obvious judder.

Because, if the original Dying Light is anything to go by, a little judder could cost you your life. You can expect to encounter sections where you’re being pursued by Volatiles, or Dying Light 2’s equivalents, where fast reactions are paramount. Assuming these videos are representative of the whole, that should be a non-issue.

You can find out for sure when Dying Light 2 Stay Human lands on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC this February 4th. It’ll arrive on the Nintendo Switch, via cloud gaming, later this year.
