Terraria Launches Crossover with Don’t Starve Together

Good news Terrarians! It’s time to enjoy a brand event and welcome The Constant. Join the Terraria crossover with Don’t Starve Together.

If you’re wondering how this came about, it all started about six months ago. This was the time Terraria was celebrating its 10th anniversary. As part of the fun, the Terraria development team held an AMA on Reddit. A user by the name of “AnHeroicHippo99” had asked the question of what franchise the team chooses to have a crossover with. Producer and Design Whitney “Cenxx” Spinks answered directly that it would have to be Don’t Starve Together.

In a post, the team revealed that it turns out Don’t Starve Together developer Klei Entertainment was reading that AMA. It started with emails and pleasantries that led to an actual collaboration.

An Inspired World Seed

Both teams agreed that instead of having a standalone “event,” it was better to make use of the World Seed functionality to offer a more holistic crossover experience.

Here are some of the things that Terrarians can look forward to with this crossover:

  • Play with Don’t Starve-inspired shaders and lighting.

  • Complete darkness is now dangerous to your health.
