Sony Playstation 5 :
Did you know that several endings were in the works for Breaking Bad? Today we will know the eight endings that the Vince Gilligan series could have before opting for the ending that we all already know. Would you change it for any of these?
Breaking Bad quickly became one of the best series ever. Vince Gilligan introduced us to a high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with terminal cancer who will end up diving into the world of methamphetamine drug trafficking so that his family will not lack for anything when he is gone. However, the world of crime is relentless and grabs you like no other, something that good old Walt would end up learning the hard way.
Vince Gilligan and his team had several alternate endings for Breaking Bad on their hands before giving season five the finale that we all remember. Up to eight alternatives were on the table before the final decision was made.
Today at HobbyConsolas, we know the alternate endings of Breaking Bad that could have been seen in the series starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.
Walter “Rambo” White
One of the endings that haunted the writers’ table was to turn Walter White into a physical marvel, grabbing the M60 machine gun like Sylvester Stallone and leaving the camp where Jesse Pinkman was being held as a lot.
Disney + launches a new channel, STAR, included for free on its platform and with content such as Deadpool, Grey’s Anatomy and other series for adults.
However, taking into account that narratively cancer had taken hold of Walt again, the team did not see fit to turn him into a “musculman” and chose to let his ingenuity create the armed arm he hid in the trunk.
Walter in Jesse James mode
Another of the ideas that circulated to end Breaking Bad was that Walter White faces the police, emulating one of the great outlaws of the United States: Jesse James. Walt would have taken the M60 and opened fire on the agents when they found him.
However, many of the team did not find it correct that the character with whom many had empathized throughout the series opened fire on the agents, so the idea was shelved.
Prison Break
Scene from the Breaking Bad series.
Following a bit in the vein of the previous alternate ending, the team considered sending Jesse Pinkman to prison, rather than the neo-Nazi camp. There he would be rescued by Walter White, machine gun in hand (yes friends, the M60 had to appear).
This board game is inspired by the famous series of the same name. They are short games and require a good strategy to win.
The team dismissed the prison robbery as not appealing to them, as did the shooting with the police. However, if the possibility of attacking a prisoner transport was on the table long enough.
Skyler says goodbye
One of the most hated characters in Breaking Bad is undoubtedly Skyler White, creditor of one of the most famous phrases on the Internet. In one of the alternate endings, Skyler would kill herself in a roadside motel..
She and Walter would have come to an understanding, but Walt would find her dead in the room. This ending was thrown out of the equation when the screenwriters couldn’t find an explanation for Walt Jr. joining his parents.
You better not call Saul
We are already seeing that in the brainstorming for the end of Breaking Bad even the prompter died. Saul Goodman, one of the series’ most beloved secondary players, had a flirtation with death in one of the alternatives that were considered.
Thanks to movies and television series, there are many myths that are not scientifically real but that everyone assumes for true.
Saul would have been killed towards the end of the series. Ultimately, it was not, and also, Bob Odenkirk returned to play the cynical lawyer in Better Call Saul, the prequel series to Breaking Bad.
There is no salvation … for anyone
There was a week in the planning for the end of Breaking Bad when being a main character in Vince Gilligan’s series was synonymous with having a noose around your neck. During this George RR Martin-style outburst, an alternative in which all the main characters died came very close to becoming the definitive ending.
Eventually the team understood that such an ending could disappoint fans, so it was removed from the equation, saving numerous characters in the process that we later saw in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.
Walter the survivor
This alternate ending is very similar to the previous one, except that there is a survivor: Walter White. All the main characters except Bryan Cranston would have died at the end of the series.
Vince Gilligan said this “would have been a moving series finale for many,” but also called it a “kick in the teeth” for those who followed the series week-by-week from the beginning.
Jesse kills Walter
One of the most compelling endings we ever got to see is the one that made Jesse Pinkman ended Walter White’s life after he rescued him from neo-Nazis. Instead of escaping, Jesse would have shot Walter.
Although it is an ending that was on the table for a long time, it was finally discarded when the writers believed that Todd’s death at the hands of Jesse was enough to “quench his thirst for blood.” In addition, it is what gave basis to the plot of El Camino.
In the mood to hang out with Netflix and don’t know where to start? Then take good note of this of the best Netflix series that we undoubtedly recommend to watch right now.
These are the Eight Breaking Bad alternate endings Vince Gilligan has released over the years. Without a doubt, the ending of Breaking Bad was up to the task in many ways, but we would not have minded if some of the endings we mentioned had become the official one.
