The Biggest Gaming News For October 4, 2022

We’re officially getting a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and Overwatch 2 has been hit by a DDoS attack.


It’s been a colossal day of video game news with several big reveals and rumors to get through, so let’s just dive right in. One of the biggest stories today involved CD Projekt Red who has now officially confirmed that it plans to make a new Cyberpunk game as well as several Witcher titles and a new IP.


We also saw the launch of Overwatch 2 today, but things haven’t gone to plan for Blizzard as the game has been the victim of a “mass DDoS attack.” Finally, Nintendo announced that’s it’s going to give us our first look at the undoubtedly cursed Mario movie later this week during its very own Nintendo Direct. CD Projekt Red Announce Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel And New Witcher Trilogy

CD Projekt Red decided to give fans a look into its plans for the forseeable future and has revealed that not only is a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 being planned, so is a brand new IP and several new Witcher titles. We don’t know anything else about the game apart from the project codenames. The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is going under the name Orion, two standalone Witcher games are titled Sirius and Canis Majoris, and the completely new IP is currently called Hader.

Overwatch 2 Server Issues Caused By “Mass DDoS Attack”

Overwatch 2 launched today and the game’s server’s are understandably struggling with the large volume of players. However, something that definitely hasn’t helped the game’s launch is a “mass DDoS attack” that has caused severe server issues and plenty of connection problems. Blizzard president Mike Ybarra made fans aware of the attack via his personal twitter account and reassured that the teams at Blizzard are working hard to “mitigate/manage” the problem.

First Look At The New Super Mario Bros. Movie Revealed, Direct Coming October 6

Our first look at the Mario movie is fast-approaching and Nintendo has decided to mark the occasion by giving the movie its very own Nintendo Direct which airs on October 6. Along with the announcement, Nintendo also gave fans a poster to pour over, featuring Mario stood in a bustling town far below Peach’s Castle which looms over him. Also, fans were very quick to point out Mario’s rather flat backside, as Peach’s constant desire to give Mario some cake suddenly makes a lot more sense.

Death Stranding 2 Rumored To Be Codenamed “Ocean”

A new report has suggested that a sequel to Death Stranding may be in development over at Kojima Productions, backed up by reputable industry insider DuskGolem. The game is allegedly being developed under the codename Ocean which is very apt considering the game’s themes. The report doesn’t reveal much more than that, although Dusk Golem claims that rumors of Death Stranding 2 being an Xbox game are “just false.”

Dead Space Releases First Gameplay Trailer

Finally, amidst all the hulabaloo, EA Motive released the first gameplay trailer for its highly anticipated Dead Space remake which launches on January 27, giving us a closer look at the horrifying corridors of the revamped USG Ishimura. Better yet, if you want to make sure the start of 2023 will be suitably spooky for you, pre-orders for the game have also gone live, with a pricey collector’s edition available at Limited Run.
