Following outrage from some group of gamers that some current-gen games are running at just 30fps (frames-per-second), Striking Distance Studios has confirmed that The Callisto Protocol will feature a Performance mode that will let the game run at 60fps!
This was announced by the game’s official Twitter account just now, along with confirmation that the game is indeed set to hit its intended December 2 release date:
We would love to inform you all that we will be shipping globally on December 2nd. And yes, we’ll have a 60 FPS performance mode.

This is definitely good news for those who prefer playing games in glorious and silky smooth 60fps. If you aren’t keeping tabs on The Callisto Protocol, it’s a sci-fi horror game made by the co-creator of the Dead Space franchise.
Here’s the official game description (via Steam):
ABOUT THIS GAME
In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon.
The Callisto Protocol is set to be released this December 2 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
