FIFA 22, Vanguard, and Mario Kart 8 remain the kings

FIFA 22, Call of Duty Vanguard, and Mario Kart 8 remain the top three in their respective order this week. FIFA 22 maintains its position as the number one game due to the vast accessibility of the game scroll new and old-gen consoles, including the PC platforms on Steam and Origin. Meanwhile, Call of Duty Vanguard maintains its second position, with the fast-paced run and gun shooter remaining popular at retailers. Mario Kart 8 is years old at this point, but the run-up to Christmas sees the game remain a king of the world. Nintendo is celebrating a great year, with the launch of the Lite and OLED, which partly explains Nintendo’s biggest franchise performing well. Not to mention its party game season, with many worldwide enjoying spare time with family and friends this Christmas and New Year.

Single-player games get a new life

One of the trends coming from the game charts is the return of the game’s big single-player RPGs. Far Cry 6 reemerges in the top ten of the game charts after it sat at 15 the week before. Far Cry 6 is Ubisoft’s biggest launch of the year, and the new updates dropping recently offer fans a new Far Cry experience, feat Danny Trejo. It’s worth mentioning Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has climbed from rank 25 to 15 this week, showing it’s the season to get back on the Viking longship and raid England at a discounted price. The same can be said for Square Enix, who celebrate Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy reappearing in the top ten on the buildup to Christmas.

Moreso, games like F1 2021 are enjoying some festive gaming, with other major single-player games from Nintendo and Microsoft, and other major publishers enjoying stable positions.

Battlefield 2042 sales improve

It was a stark launch for Battlefield 2042 six weeks ago. There were plenty of issues with the game, shown in the Steam reviews. At the time of writing, the game is most negative in its recent and all-time player reviews. However, EA and DICE are turning it around. There have been several balance patches addressing these issues, and there’s now LTM modes offering players smaller sized matches, which many fans believe is much better for the game’s health. Combine the recent updates with the 30-35% discounts across major retailers has helped get fresh players in the game’s servers, granting it another appearance in the game charts top ten leaderboards.
