The Day – Mohegan Gaming launches new digital division

Mohegan — Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment announced the launch Monday of Mohegan Digital, a new division that will oversee the company’s online gaming operations, including its Mohegan Sun sportsbook and online sports betting and casino gaming ventures, all of which were authorized by legislation Gov. Ned Lamont signed into law in May.

Appointed to lead the division were Rich Roberts, president, and Aviram Alroy, vice president.

“We’ve consistently seen strong growth in digital gaming across our properties, especially in this past year, and as legal sports betting continues to expand in the U.S., the timing was right for us to launch Mohegan Digital,” Ray Pineault, MGE’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Over the years, Mohegan has made great technological advancements in the digital space, working with industry-leading partners to provide state-of-the-art advancements to casino and sportsbook online operations. With Mohegan Digital, we are looking to expand and enhance these efforts …”

Roberts joins MGE from RSD Consulting, where he was an executive business consultant for the firm, which helps organizations entering the U.S. sports digital media, regulated digital gaming and esports markets. Roberts previously was CEO of FaceOff, a peer-to-peer social/skill sports gaming platform.

Aloy has been with MGE since 2014 as vice president of interactive gaming, a division that Mohegan Digital now absorbs.

The Connecticut gaming-expansion law authorizing sports betting and online casino gaming is subject to approval by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
