The Forgotten City launches this summer on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

The Forgotten City, a popular Skyrim mod has been re-imagined and is releasing this summer on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as a standalone game.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is known for having plenty of incredible mods, and The Forgotten City is one that has had its fair share of fanfare. After receiving the National Writers’ guild award, and having been downloaded three million times, The Forgotten City has been re-imagined as its own standalone game. Developed by Modern Storyteller, the game will feature a fresh orchestral score and professional voice acting when it releases later this year.

You play as a time traveller who has been drawn to events two-thousand years in the past, to an underground city within the Roman Empire. The city is occupied by twenty-three citizens who are trapped in a time loop, living with the mysterious Golden Rule. If the rule is broken, everyone dies, and the loop is reset. You need to learn how to exploit the rule, explore, interrogate, and make choices to change the course of the day. The citizen’s lives are in your hands, and only you can break the cycle. The game features:

  • Make your own choices to solve problems — using charm, bribery, stealth, and intimidation.
  • Face moral dilemmas that can literally mean life or death for the people you’re attempting to help.
  • Explore an open world, set within an authentic Roman city deep underground.
  • Meet detailed, interactive characters.
  • Choose your race, sex, and backstory to roleplay however you want.
  • The game has multiple endings, focusing on a non-linear narrative that changes with the choices you make.

The Forgotten City is expected to launch this summer on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. No details have been released about Xbox Series X|S optimisation or not, although, you can be sure we’ll let you know when they have been. Have you played The Forgotten City mod? Let us know what you think of it.
