With Halo Infinite getting a release date of December 8, 2021, the price for the game is now live on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as well as Steam. The Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC version India price for Halo Infinite through the Microsoft Store is Rs. 3,999 while the Steam price is Rs. 3,499. For comparison other $60 games on Steam from Microsoft like Psychonauts 2 had a Rs. 1,299 price at launch, making this almost three times more expensive than it should be.
There doesn’t seem to be any special edition versions of Halo Infinite up for pre-order. Odd when you consider the franchise’s penchant for upselling its fans on pricier versions. As for a physical variant, there’s no news from Microsoft just yet. Though if we had to speculate, it would probably have the same strange Rs. 5,899 price like Microsoft Flight Simulator did which would be marked down to a more palpable Rs. 3,499 days down the line.

That said, if we had to speculate, it appears that the company has decided to go with a higher price to incentivise users to play on Xbox consoles or to use Xbox Game Pass. This is backed up by Forza Horizon 5 on Steam for PC having a price that’s nearly three times more than what it should be.
While Microsoft may claim that Xbox Game Pass is transformative and has decided to opt for engagement metrics to justify success while parroting that Xbox Game Pass has resulted in more game sales (all while some developers have complained that they’re yet to see a penny from being on the service) suggests that there’s some tension building to ensure that Xbox Game Pass thrives at the cost of everything else.
