The Persistence Enhanced Respawns on PS5 This Year

While all eyes are on developer Firesprite’s next project – presumably it’s in production for Sony’s next-gen PlayStation VR headset, in light of recent news – the studio is giving its previous game another crack. Survival horror roguelike The Persistence first launched as a PlayStation VR exclusive, but was later updated so you could play in pancake mode on the PlayStation 4.

And now it’s coming to the PlayStation 5, later this year. “The Persistence Enhanced dials up the atmosphere and tension with improved lighting, UX enhancements, and raytraced rendering,” the developer explained. “Immersive haptic feedback is also supported with the DualSense controller on PS5.”

There’ll be a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade for everyone who already owns the game, and there’ll also be a physical release for those who want a boxed copy. “We can’t wait to show you the immersive features of The Persistence Enhanced, and how they create a truly spine-chilling new experience as you fight for survival,” a blog post concludes. “We’ll have more details to share with you over the coming months.”
