For years we’ve gathered the troops and kickstarted the party with The Jackbox Party Packs. Today, The Jackbox Party Pack 9 releases. Yep, number nine!
Available today for release on pretty much every format you could possibly imagine – Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Apple TV, Mac App Store, Epic Games Store, Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Luna – The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is the latest, and we think the greatest, Party Pack yet, as the Jackbox team get themselves set for the upcoming holiday season, a time when everyone comes together for some serious fun and games.
Pretty much following on from every The Jackbox Party Pack that has come before it, Party Pack 7 and Party Pack 8 being the most recent, The Jackbox Party Pack 9 continues the usual fun and games with some humorous mini-games that will have players giggling for hours on end.
There’s a new Fibbage tasking you with bluffing your way through proceedings, the trivia fun of Quixort and the hilarity found in Junktopia. From there you put your drawing skills on show in Nonsensory or even channel your inner reality TV star in Roomerang.
The vast majority of The Jackbox Party Pack 9 caters for anything between two-to-ten players, but neatly Quixort is also capable of sorting out the lone gamer. We certainly wouldn’t advise you grab The Jackbox Party Pack 9 for that game alone, but if you’re able to get friends and family around – or stream and have a decent following – then it more than handles what is required.
In all, the games run as follows…
- Fibbage 4 (2-8 players) – The hilarious bluffing party game returns with an all new Final Fibbage, video questions, fan-submitted questions, and Fibbage Enough About You mode! It’s a game so beloved that we decided to slap a 4 on it.
- Quixort (1-10 players) – In this trivia sorting factory, work with your team to sort falling answers into their proper order before they hit the floor! Or, play the single player mode and see how many blocks you can sort before topping out. It’s as easy as A, C, B!
- Junktopia (3-8 players) – A strange wizard has turned you into a frog! Create hilarious backstories for weird objects and then get them appraised. The player with the most valuable items becomes human again!
- Nonsensory (3-8 players) – Professor Nanners is here to test your NSP (Nonsensory Perception) in this drawing, writing, and guessing game! How close can you get to guessing where another player’s prompt ranks on the silliest of scales?
- Roomerang (4-9 players) – Channel your inner reality TV star in an attempt to come out on top! Respond to prompts, bring the competition and role-play to avoid being voted out. Never fear though, even when you’re out you’ll find yourself Roomerang-ed right back into the drama!
With a host of different family-friendly settings in place, moderation tools and localisation coming soon, we love The Jackbox Party Pack 9, so much so that our full review runs the 4.5/5 route.
Whether you’re a Jackbox newbie or a party veteran, The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is available to pick up from the usual digital stores for around £24.99. Remember, you’ll be able to find this pretty much everywhere, but it’s the Xbox Store and the download it gives us Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S which is our port of call.
