These PS4 and Xbox games have surged in value – do YOU have them in your collection? | Gaming | Entertainment

PS4 and Xbox One fans may be sitting on a few games that could net them a tidy profit. While you may be aware that the retro video game market has surged in value in recent years, you may not realise that more recently released titles can also fetch a tidy sum. And if you’ve got a PS4 or Xbox One sitting underneath your TV in your living room you may have a few games in your collection that have seen their value dramatically increase.

PriceCharting is a website that lets video game collectors check up on the value of games they have in their collection, or games they’re thinking of buying – so they don’t pay over the odds.

Besides letting you search for any game and find out its market price, the useful retro gaming tool has a section for ‘Hot Items’ – which are games that are in-demand and have seen its value increase.

This list is regularly updated, and while you often find older games in its latest round-up PriceCharting has added some newer games.

If you’ve got a PS4, the title you’ll need to look out for is Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy [Collector’s Edition].

This PlayStation game has seen its value increase to £239.16 (a £21.89 rise over its previous valuation).

While if you’re an Xbox fan the game you’ll be hoping is in your collection is For Honor Apollyon Collector’s Edition.

This Xbox One game has seen its value increase by £57.97 to £150.54.

An important thing to point out with retro games, and game values in general, is the value can change depending on which region the game in question was released in.

Both of the aforementioned games are US releases, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t have these titles.

The Jak and Daxter game mentioned is a release from Limited Run Games who, as the name suggests, only produce limited runs of select games.

This company only release games for the American NTSC region, so if you were despearate to get hold of this version you may have been willing to import it over to Blighty when it launched.

If you don’t import games, and are specifically concerned with PAL (European) releases then there is one Xbox One game which you may have that’s seen its value increase.

That title is Guitar Hero Live [Supreme Party Edition] for the Xbox One, which has seen its value increase by £25.84 to £97.21.

In terms of older games, the biggest PAL mover is Hideo Kojima’s cult-classic adventure Snatcher, with the English-language Mega CD version notorious for being expensive to get hold of.

The value of the PAL version of Snatcher has recently risen by £59.34 to £466.62.

Here are the top ten movers for the PAL gaming market…
