Bethesda has launched a new video diary series focused on next year’s release Starfield, and the first one features the one and only Todd Howard answering some popular questions.
Towards the end, Todd mentions how this latest game currently has over 250,000 lines of dialogue in it, which is a lot more than previous games. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim had around 60,000 lines of dialogue and Fallout 4 had about 111,000 lines of dialogue in it.
“We’ve gone back to a classic Bethesda style dialogue, you’re looking at the character and how they emote, you have a series of choices there…We just passed 250,000 lines, and so that’s a lot of dialogue. But we’ve gone through it and the impact is really there, and that includes my favourite speech persuasion system…it feels like it’s part of the dialogue but you’re spending points to persuade them, it feels natural…I’m in this mode of persuading you to get what I want.”
It follows on from Bethesda mentioning earlier this year how the player’s character in the upcoming space exploration RPG would not have a voice. In addition to this, all dialogue will play out from a first-person perspective.
Todd’s also previously mentioned how there would be over 1,000 planets in Starfield. Read more:
