14:54 CEST: Marcell Jacobs wins gold in the 100m!

Italy’s Marcell Jacobs has secured gold in the men’s 100m race with a time of 9.80. The USA’s Fred Kerley has come in second with 9.84, while Canada’s Andre De Grasse completes the podium with 9.89.

14:52 CEST: False start in men’s 100m race

Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes was too quick getting away and has been shown a red card, so he will not get the chance to win a medal. The other seven runners set up to go again.

14:30 CEST: Twenty minutes away from 100m race

China’s Su Bingtian recorded the quickest time in the 100m semi-finals after running in 9.83. Another time similar to that could be enough to secure gold in the final, or to at least get on the podium.

13:30 CEST: Biles will not take part in women’s floor final

USA Gymnastics have confirmed that Simone Biles will not participate in the women’s floor final. Read more HERE.

12:38 CEST: Four qualify for 100m race from third semi-final

China’s Su Bingtian got off to a great start and won with a time of 9.83, which is a personal best. As is the case for the USA’s Ronnie Baker in second with 9.83 and Italy’s Marcell Jacobs in third with 9.84. South Africa’s Akani Simbine in fourth qualifies with a time of 9.90.

12:33 CEST: Hughes and Adegoke advance to 100m final

Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes wins after running in 9.98, with Nigeria’s Enoch Adegoke finishing second in 10.00. Although he was tied with USA star Trayvon Bromell, it is Adegoke who advances. Bromell was one of the most anticipated sprinters coming into this Olympics.

12:23 CEST: Kerley and De Grasse through to 100m final

The USA’s Fred Kerley won the race with a time of 9.96, while Canada’s Andre De Grasse comes in second with 9.98, so they are both through to the men’s 100m final. This was the second time they attempted to race, as Great Britain’s Reece Prescod was penalised for a false start and was thrown out.

12:15 CEST: Slovenia upset Spain

Slovenia, whose basketball team are playing in their first-ever Olympics, have beaten Spain 95-87 in the final group-stage match. A real statement from Luka Doncic and co.

11:30 CEST: Zverev wins gold in the tennis

Germany’s Alexander Zverev has won tennis gold after beating the Russian Olympic Committee’s Karen Kachanov 6-3 6-1.

11:10 CEST: Spain winning at half time in the basketball

Spain are beating Luka Doncic’s Slovenia 44-41, with Ricky Rubio leading La Roja with 11 points while Vlatko Cancar has 12 points for Slovenia. Doncic has three fouls, but he is on his way to getting a triple-double with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists.

10:30 CEST: USA victory in the golf

Xander Schauffele of the USA has secured the gold medal in the men’s golf event after finishing -18.

10:00 CEST: Logan Martin wins BMX gold

A lot was expected of Logan Martin heading into the BMX freestyle men’s park event, and the Australian delivered by winning gold with a mark of 93.30 in his opening run.
