Fresh off earning the championship at the ESL One Fall 2021 event on Aug. 29, Tundra Esports continued their excellent play with a first-round victory in the OGA Dota PIT Invitational on Monday.
Tundra defeated SG esports 2-0, winning in 25 minutes on red and 31 minutes on green.
Germany’s Leon “Nine” Kirilin led Tundra with an average kill-death-assist ratio of 10.0-1.5-11.5. Brazil’s Adriano de Paula “4dr” Machado topped SG with an average of three kills per map.
The victory advances Tundra into Round 2 of the upper bracket, where they will face Fnatic, who were 2-0 winners over Thunder Predator. Fnatic showed consistency Monday, winning twice on green, both times in 35 minutes.
The Philippines’ Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto paced Fnatic with an average 10.5-1.0-8.0 K-D-A ratio. Peru’s Alonso “Mnz” Leon posted 5.5 kills per map for Thunder Predator.
PSG.LGD were another first-round winner, rallying to take down Team Undying 2-1. After dropping the first map playing on green in 35 minutes, PSG.LGD found better luck on red in the second map, prevailing in 42 minutes. They then took the decider playing on green in a 57-minute marathon.
China’s Zhang “xiao8” Ning had an 8.0-3.0-6.7 average K-D-A ratio for PSG-LGD. Canada’s Jonathan Bryle “Bryle” Santos De Guia produced a 13.3-3.3-16.3 average K-D-A ratio for Undying.
T1 were the final team to advance in the upper bracket, defeating Team Spirit 2-1, playing the whole way on red. T1 won the first map in 39 minutes, lost the rematch in 42 minutes, then won the final map in 52 minutes.
Karl Matthew “Karl” Baldovino of the Philippines led T1 with an average 8.0-3.3-9.0 K-D-A ratio. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk registered an average 11.7-3.0-7.7 K-D-A ratio for Team Spirit.
The SAPPHIRE OGA Dota PIT Invitational is an eight-team, double-elimination invitational with a $275,000 prize pool. All matches are best of three until the grand final, which is best of five.
