Snoozy Kazoo is back with more Turnip Boy, who is ready to commit more felonies in the action-adventure sequel Turnip Boy Robs a Bank.
Snoozy Kazoo has announced Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, a sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, and a return to Xbox Game Pass. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion took many by surprise, launching in mid-2021 and drawing attention with its curious premise. A game about tax evasion, committed by a loving turnip, is eyebrow-raising to say the least. Now Snoozy Kazoo is back and escalating the experience, just as Turnip Boy is escalating his felonies.
The heart of Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was a dedication to silliness that’s rare to find in many modern games. Mix in a variety of clever puzzles and a healthy amount of strangeness and Snoozy Kazoo created something special. What really seemed to take Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion to the next level, however, was Xbox Game Pass. It brought an audience to the game that may not have seen it otherwise, and it may be responsible for the new sequel.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a direct sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and appears to be a very similar experience overall. Players will explore and loot a bank with roguelike gameplay, as Snoozy Kazoo has created a new selection of weapons to equip and enemies to battle. The same sense of humor has also returned, as Turnip Boy joins up with the Pickled Gang for their new crimes. And more of the Turnip Boy world will be available to discover in general.
What’s particularly interesting about Turnip Boy Robs a Bank isn’t just that it’s an Xbox Game Pass day one release, which it is, but that it seems focused on an Xbox Game Pass launch. Its confirmed platforms for the time being are PC and Xbox One. That could change in time, but since Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was brought to both PlayStation and Switch, the Xbox Game Pass-focused announcement could imply a deeper partnership following the first game’s success.
It makes a lot of sense for an Xbox Game Pass partnership to be made for Turnip Boy Robs a Bank. For one, it’s a small project that really needs to be accessible for new players to find it. Further, this is a very quick turnaround time for a new game. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion launched in 2021 and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank will arrive in 2023. Xbox Game Pass will work well for a relatively small iterative step forward for a smaller project.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank makes a lot of sense for the Xbox Game Pass service, too. It’s a unique kind of game, mixing roguelike and humor elements, and Xbox Game Pass needs a diverse selection of games to keep subscribers happy. Hopefully, Turnip Boy Robs a Bank will prove a success for everyone involved.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank releases in 2023 for PC and Xbox One.
