SEGA and the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter page has revealed that a two-part prequel comic will be released for Sonic Frontiers this upcoming Tuesday, October 18, 2022, written by Ian Flynn. The page account confirms that this prequel will go along with the Sonic Frontiers prologue animation that was announced by IGN back in June, though it is unknown if they will release at the same time.

Sonic Frontiers Two-Part Prequel Comic: What to Expect
The first part of the Sonic Frontiers prequel comic will be released on October 18, 2022, and SEGA and Sonic Team have confirmed via Twitter. The comic will be a digital comic released in parts, though it is unknown at this time when the second part will be released.
Ian Flynn, the official writer for the Sonic IDW comics and character writer for Sonic Frontiers, will be spearheading this comic as well, according to his most recent Tweet.
SEGA also confirmed that the upcoming Sonic Frontiers prologue animation will also be released soon, and it will be separate from this prologue. Because the trailer released by IGN First showcases Knuckles and this comic seems to focus on Sonic, Tails, and Amy, it is will likely the animation will be about Knuckles and have little to do with the plot of the comic. More details are expected in the near future.
Since the game’s announcement, SEGA has released numerous promotional materials for Sonic Frontiers, such as a brand-new trailer showcasing the combat.
It was also announced that the game will be receiving free, Monster Hunter-themed DLC a week after release, which will include new skin and items.
Sonic Frontiers is less than a month away and will release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Seris X|S, and Microsoft Windows on November 8, 2022. Players can pre-order the game now to receive special in-game rewards and power-ups.
