Ubisoft has announced the formation of a single global esports department to replace the regional format seen previously.

While prior years saw the EMEA and NCSA Ubisoft offices take the primary reigns in running their respective regions, this led to complaints surrounding lack of communication, direction, and uniformity between the regions with the 2020 Season seeing all four regions run vastly differently formatted online leagues.

According to a post on the Ubisoft website about the change, the new department headed by the ex-Esports Director of the EMEA region, François-Xavier Deniele, is designed to “establish a clear direction for all our regional activities” and “collaborate with more teams at Ubisoft in the most efficient way possible”.

This aim to streamline the decision-making processes, in particular, is one many R6 players and organizations will laud as we enter Year 7 of the scene.

Also, plans surrounding the co-streaming of matches were highlighted, with Deniele stating that “the consolidated organization helped us move forward and proceed with a common vision and decision to start opening online watch party opportunities for the upcoming Six Invitational”.

As well as with R6, this new centralized department will also work on Brawlhalla, Trackmania, and For Honor tournaments as well as any future Ubisoft esports titles with R6 SHARE-like revenue-sharing programs targetted for the other titles.
