French publishing giant Ubisoft has detailed how it has been supporting its staff in Ukraine prior to and during the country’s invasion by Russia.
In a blog post, the company said that it had been closely watching the situation and that as the temperature began to rise in the region it had started providing its employees in the country with extra money to cover “exceptional costs”, as well as paying them in advance. This was on the expectation that there might be disruption to the banking system.
Since Russian forces invaded Ukraine, Ubisoft has set up “alternative housing in neighbouring countries” so that staff can have somewhere to live if they have had to flee the country. The company has also donated €200,000 to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Ubisoft has offices in both Kyiv and Odessa.
“To stay closely connected to all our team members, Ubisoft has created dedicated hotlines to provide them personalised support and aid. We have also put in place an emergency communication system to ensure we are able to keep in touch with our colleagues in all circumstances,” Ubisoft wrote.
“We stand by our teams in Ukraine and will continue to adapt and reinforce our support as the situation evolves.”
