In July, Ubisoft announced that it was decommissioning online services for older titles like Assassin’s Creed II, the original version of Assassin’s Creed III, Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and a handful of others, which was due to happen today. Now, Ubi has decided to extend the date for that decommissioning to October.
“Decommissioning online services for older games is something we do not take lightly, but it is also a necessity as the technology that drove those services becomes obsolete,” Ubisoft said in an update on its support website. “Over the last month, our teams have been hard at work exploring what is possible to reduce disruption.”
Consequently, Ubisoft confirmed that the decommission date for the affected Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC titles has been moved to 1st October, and applies to the following games:
- Anno 2070, PC
- Assassin’s Creed II, PC, PS3
- Assassin’s Creed III (2012 Release), PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360
- Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, PC, Xbox 360, PS3
- Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, PC
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations, PS3, Xbox 360
- Driver: San Francisco, PC, PS3, Xbox 360
- Far Cry 3 (2012 Release), PC, PS3, Xbox 360
- Ghost Recon Future Soldier, PS3, Xbox 360
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, PC
- Rayman Legends, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360
- Silent Hunter 5, PC
- Space Junkies, PC (HTC VIVE, Oculus)
- Splinter Cell: Blacklist, PC, PS3, Xbox 360
- ZombiU, Wii U
Remastered versions of Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Revelations in the Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection will of course be unaffected, as will Assassin’s Creed III Remastered and Far Cry 3 Classic Edition.
