In the middle of last month, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves received a fresh update from the PlayStation 5 that added support for variable refresh rates.
Digital Foundry specialists tested the collection with installed patch 1.002, and the results were quite impressive. Those with VRR-compatible displays have seen significant performance improvements while maintaining high visual fidelity.
In his analysis, DF notes that following downloading the latest update the Uncharted 4 – A Thiefs End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy remasters will be adding new display modes, including Performance Unlocked, which the PS5 GPU will add. It allows you to play at a frequency that fits the performance (about a hundred FPS on average), but with a lot better picture quality than 100 oz.
According to Digital Foundry, theoretically, the consoles GPU isn’t fully loaded in normal modes, but VRR allows you to use this latent power.
Performance Unlocked mode also offers high frame rates in excess of 100 FPS, but is compatible with 1440p instead of 1080p. I have a few tweaks.
On October 19, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection will be released on PC through the Epic Games Store and Steam.
