The lineup is set.
The United States women’s national hockey team will look to defend gold in Beijing, China in February, with the team naming its 23-player roster during the second intermission of the NHL’s Winter Classic on Saturday evening.
It’s an experienced group, with 15 players having participated in at least one Olympic tournament. Hilary Knight leads the way with three Olympic appearances, while Amanda Kessel, Alex Carpenter, Brianna Decker and Lee Stecklein have both participated twice.
USA has medaled in every Olympic tournament since women’s hockey was added in 1998, winning the inaugural event before beating Canada in a shootout in South Korea in 2018. USA’s Olympic journey will officially begin on Feb. 3 against Finland after months of preparation during the team’s extended centralization period.
