Useful Overwatch Trick Allows Players To Detect Sneaky Enemies on Rialto

One Overwatch player shares an interesting trick for dealing with enemy players trying to be sneaky during Escort matches on Rialto.

It’s an exciting time for fans of the Overwatch franchise as the PvP side of the sequel is rapidly approaching. While Overwatch 2 has seen plenty of delays and long stretches of silence from Blizzard, the past few months have been chock-full of news from new trailers at the Xbox Showcase in June, to an open beta which let players go hands on with new heroes like Junker Queen and Sojourn for the first time. However, as the sequel nears, it also means the end is coming to the original Overwatch.

Originally intending to feature a shared multiplayer experience between both games, though with Overwatch 2 going free-to-play, Blizzard decided to sunset the original game and transition player skins and items to the sequel. However, even with the news that Overwatch will be shutting down, it hasn’t stopped players from continuing to jump in and discover new things. Fans and players continue to share impressive moments and other fan generated content.

While battling on the Rialto map during an Escort match, Overwatch subReddit user chocwaf discovered an interesting little trick for dealing with an enemy player who is trying to be sneaky. When on the attacking team attempting to escort the payload, chocwaf leaves the spawn area during the start of the match, running around the corner to the three bushes in front of windows. Instead of leaving them as is, chocwaf instead uses Reinhart’s Charge ability and eliminates an enemy hiding there hoping to prevent the payload from moving and keeping the team confused as to why.

With the title of the Reddit post indicating that checking the bush should be the first rule when attacking on the Italian inspired map Rialto, many fans agreed and offered their own stories of hiding spots or moments when something similar happened to them. One person mentioned that the game started an inactivity timer, forcing them to move from the bush and revealing their hiding spot to the enemy team, while another mentioned that Wrecking Ball could hang infinitely above that location before a patch took that possibility away. Others have highlighted other popular hiding spots like a particular spot on the gas station on the Havana map.

While the time may be ticking on Overwatch at this point, Blizzard does still have a few things planned to keep fans signing in until Overwatch 2‘s arrival. Although Blizzard hasn’t commented on a potential Overwatch cosmetic fire sale, the studio has slowly been winding things down. The Anniversary Remix event represented the final goodbye by bringing back seasonal brawls, unique skins, and even a one-day return for Junkenstein’s Revenge. The event also brought an end to loot boxes as players can no longer purchase any new ones and those left unopened will have the content inside automatically be revealed on September 14.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
