UTEP throwing pregame parties at home football games

EL PASO, Texas — Fans headed to the Sun Bowl for UTEP’s homecoming or any of the remaining home football games this season are in for a real treat.

“We continue to work hard to reinvent UTEP Football game days – creating more energy, enjoyment and entertainment for fans,” stated UTEP Associate Athletic Director Nick Popplewell. “We appreciate Speaking Rock’s tremendous support and involvement in this concept, their partnership is crucial.”

Starting three hours prior to kickoff, the Speaking Rock Pregame Party will be located in the northern portion of the GR2 parking lot next to the Larry K. Durham Center.

The programmed tailgate area provides Miner fans with live entertainment, various food and beverage options for purchase, giveaways and other festivities leading up to kickoff.

The Speaking Rock Pregame Party is open to the public and free to attend and fans can expect food trucks and vendors, adult beverages for purchase, live music made possible by Speaking Rock, the UTEP Bookstore trailer, sponsorship activations, inflatables for kids, and the UTEP Alumni Association will also have a presence.

The location of the Speaking Rock Pregame Party also provides fans with the perfect spot to cheer on the Miners as they arrive at the stadium for game day.

“Miner Walk” will take place adjacent to the tailgate area, approximately two hours prior to each home game and will include the UTEP marching band and spirit squad performing and leading the crowd in cheers.

“The goal is to create an exciting tailgate space for fans on game days, serving as a rallying spot before they go into the Sun Bowl to cheer on the Miners,” added Popplewell.
