Uvalde, Devine split junior high games

Uvalde Morales and Devine Middle school split four junior high football games last Thursday night in the Honey Bowl.

In seventh-grade action, the Coyotes B team blanked the Devine Colts, 6-0, while Devine topped the Uvalde A unit 22-0.

Beco Diaz set up the touchdown for the Coyotes B team as he returned a fumble 29 yards to the Devine 1-yard line.

Caleb Trevino scored on the touchdown run.

Mark Conoley and Jeremiah Alvarez were two other standouts in the game for the Coyotes.

In eighth-grade competition, the Uvalde B team whipped the Colts, 22-0, while Devine’s A team outscored the Uvalde A team in a 30-22 thriller.

Josiah Flores scored for the B Coyotes on a short ran and then scored on the conversion run.

Andrew Martinez ran 23 yards for Uvalde’s second touchdown.

Late in the game, Gael Alonzo-Romero scored on a 48-yard touchdown run, while Martinez scored on the conversion play.

In the A game, the Coyotes scored in the first period on an 11-yard run by Rocky Duran.

Jordan Albarado ran 13 yards for a Uvalde touchdown in the second period.

Down 30-14, the Coyotes rallied in the fourth period to score on a 30-yard run by Rocky Duran.

Jordan Albarado tossed a two-point conversion pass to Dereck De La Cruz.
