A new type of Border War between the University of Wyoming and a Colorado school is lined up, this time in the virtual realm.

UW’s Esports club will host the University of Colorado (CU) in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium Saturday, Oct. 2, for a day of competitive video games and entertainment.

The gaming Border War begins at 3 p.m. in a tailgate-style event in Prexy’s Pasture. The gaming competition in the A&S auditorium begins at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

“This will be exciting for all participants, because it is the first large-scale competition between the two schools,” says Tony Delaurante, outreach coordinator for the club.

The event will feature various Esports teams competing on stage in games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch and Call of Duty. Additionally, the UW Esports club is recognizing the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative.

“Our hope is for spectators to see some friendly and competitive gaming, furthering both clubs and backing the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative,” Delaurante says. “For this event, all UW team members will be wearing pink jerseys to further express their support for this charity.”
