MILWAUKEE – The No. 19 Marquette University women’s volleyball team concludes its 10-match homestand this weekend against UConn and Providence at the Al McGuire Center on MU Homecoming weekend.
Opening serve against the Huskies is slated for 7 p.m. Central time on Friday and the match will be broadcast by the Marquette Wire, MU’s student-run media organization. Jackson Gross, Ben Schultz (analyst) and Ava Mares (sideline) will handle the call against UConn. A free, live feed is available on the Wire’s YouTube channel.
Saturday’s match against the Friars is a 6 p.m. start and is broadcast live on FloSports with Bob Brainerd on the call.
As part of the MU Homecoming festivities, all students at Friday’s match against the Huskies will receive a MU Homecoming shirt, which comes in both a short and long-sleeve version.
Fans at Saturday’s match against PC are encouraged to wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer.

No. 19 MARQUETTE (11-1, 2-0 BIG EAST): The Golden Eagles are off to their best 12-match start to a season since joining NCAA Division I in 1986 and have won nine-straight matches. MU has won its first eight home matches of the year and will depart on a four-match road swing following this weekend’s action.
Outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton leads the Golden Eagles with 142 kills (3.16 per set) on the year, while setter Yadhira Anchante has helped MU hit a BIG EAST-best .286. Marquette is also first in the league in kills, second in assists and third in service aces.
Middle blocker Carsen Murray currently sits second among qualified players in hitting percentage (.383), Anchante is third in assists per frame (10.27) and Murray also ranks third in blocks per set (1.11). Libero Carly Skrabak is fourth in digs per set (4.51)
Anchante was honored as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following her first NCAA triple-double against Butler on Saturday night. The setter landed a career-best 10 kills against the Bulldogs, tied her career best with 46 assists and added 13 digs.
UCONN (6-7, 0-2 BIG EAST): UConn has dropped its first two games of conference play, falling to Seton Hall and St. Johns in five sets this past weekend. Marquette will be the third ranked opponent of the season for the Huskies. In their previous two matches against ranked opponents, UConn was swept by then-No. 20 Penn State and then-No. 20 Kansas.
UConn is led by a pair of seniors, Caylee Parker and Jasmine Davis, with Parker being a 2021 All-BIG EAST selection. The senior duo have accounted for nearly half the kills for the Huskies, leading the team with 3.06 and 2.86 kills per set, respectively. As a team, UConn is hitting .210, while their opponents to a mark of .217.
SERIES WITH UCONN: The Golden Eagles hold a 9-3 series lead over the Huskies and have won the last six matchups.
PROVIDENCE (8-6, 0-2 BIG EAST): Providence dropped its first two conference games, being swept by St. Johns and falling to Seton Hall in five sets this past weekend. PC had won four of six matches heading into BIG EAST play.
Providence has a balanced attack, with four different players that have recorded over 100 kills this season. Sophomore Kayla Grant leads the Friars with a .386 hitting percentage, while senior Emma Nelson leads the team with 139 kills for an average of 2.73 per frame. The Friars are hitting .191, while holding their opponents to a mark of .177.
SERIES WITH PROVIDENCE: The Golden Eagles have won all 14 previous meetings against PC and are 13-0 since PC volleyball rejoined the BIG EAST for the 2014 campaign.
