A resident, at a care home in Waltham Abbey, who loves his technology has donated his PS4 to fellow residents after purchasing a newer model.
Michael Phipps knows his gadgets and is always up to date with the latest phone, IPad, TV and speaker system.
One of his most well=used possession is his Playstation; Michael has enjoyed using his Playstation for years now and moving to Paternoster House care home in Waltham Abbey has not changed that.
Michael pre-ordered the PS5 so that he could get it as soon after the release date as possible. With its advanced graphics and elegant designs, the PS5 was simply a must-have for Michael.
As soon as the new PS5 arrived and was plugged in, Michael did not hesitate – he immediately donated his old PS4 system to the home’s other residents.
Michael has lived at Paternoster House for three years and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted by his generosity but were not surprised as they knew how thoughtful Michael is.
Saying that he wanted the residents to enjoy the PS4, the activities team have made Michael’s old Playstation available in one of the lounges. This allows residents to hone reactions, enjoy a good laugh, as well as connect with grandchildren during visits.
In response to this wonderful gesture, activity coordinator Ashley said: “It is so kind of Michael, but that is just who he is. He loves to have the most up to date gadget, and instead of selling his old one, he gave it away to his neighbours.”
Michael said: “I love the new PS5, the graphics are amazing on it and I wanted the other residents to be able to enjoy using a Playstation.”
Paternoster House provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for respite care and long term stays.
