We simulated Manchester United v Everton to get a score prediction

Manchester United face Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday, with the Reds looking to bounce back in the league after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed his frustration regarding Manchester United’s tight turnaround after their Champions League win over Villarreal on Wednesday night in his press conference ahead of the Everton game this weekend.

The United boss was frustrated with the Premier League’s domestic rights holders, BT Sport and Sky Sports for the scheduling, with BT broadcasting United’s fixture with Everton, whilst Sky are showing Liverpool versus Manchester City on Sunday.

United have also been hit with fitness concerns ahead of the Everton fixture, after Luke Shaw missed the Villarreal game through illness, whilst Harry Maguire will not be available until after the October international break.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Manchester United v Everton on Tuesday and this is what happened…

Manchester United v Everton score predicted by FIFA 22 simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn’t select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Manchester United could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Varane, Telles; Fred, Pogba; Sancho, Fernandes, Greenwood; Ronaldo.

We predict that Everton could set up in a 4-5-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Pickford; Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne; Townsend, Allan, Doucoure, Davies, Gray; Rondon.

The game started slowly with both sides struggling to break each other down, with the visitors setting up in a very defensive manner as is expected from a side managed by Rafa Benitez.

The best chance of the first-half fell to Bruno Fernandes on the edge of the penalty box, as his whipped effort hit the post as Pickford was rooted to the spot and could only watch as the ball cannoned off the woodwork.

The second-half started in a similar fashion, with Everton frustrating United’s creative players and hitting the home side on the counter-attack with Gray and Townsend.

Everton hit the woodwork themselves late on, as substitute Alex Iwobi broke through the United defence and fired the ball past De Gea, but the strike wasn’t the cleanest and the ball clipped the top of the crossbar, going out for a goal kick.

United managed to find a late winner through Paul Pogba as the Frenchman tucked the ball home from close range late on in stoppage time.

Pogba scores late on to make it 1-0 to United.

It was Cristiano Ronaldo again, repeating his magic from midweek as he took the game by the scruff of the neck, beat two players before teeing up Pogba on the penalty spot to put United 1-0 up with just seconds to play.

United left it late again, but their sheer determination and grit is a sight to behold, as they now have the mentality of the likes of Liverpool and City to never give up and win at all costs.
