The MW2 beta begins this week on PS4 and PS5 consoles, but pre-order customers on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC will have to wait longer.
The good news is that no matter what platform you’re on, if you have bought a copy of the game, and sorted out your beta code, you will have the chance to jump into Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in September 2022.
Here’s what we know so far about this weekend’s big Call of Duty beta launch across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms.

When Is The MW2 Beta On Xbox And PC?
The MW2 Beta will begin on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC pre-order customers on Thursday, September 22 at 10AM PT / 1PM EDT / 6PM BST.
That’s a full week after PlayStation pre-order customers get to jump into the game, with the official launch times for the PlayStation Early Access Weekend listed below:
- Early Access MW2 Beta Start Time: Friday, September 16 at 10AM PDT / 1PM EDT / 6PM BST
- Open MW2 Beta Start Time: Sunday, September 18 at 10AM PDT / 1PM EDT / 6PM BST
So those waiting to jump into Modern Warfare 2 beta on Xbox and PC platforms will need to wait until Weekend Two before they get the chance.
A message from Activision explains: “The second Beta weekend is available on all console platforms and PC, and is scheduled to run from Thursday, September 22 at 10AM PT to Monday, September 26. Crossplay will be active, allowing you to party up with friends and the greater community, no matter what hardware they play on.”
The good news is that the final days of the second weekend
“The rest of the weekend, from Saturday, September 24 at 10AM PT to Monday, September 26, is accessible to Xbox and PC players regardless of pre-order status. The entire community can now experience the impressive amount of Beta content available in Modern Warfare II, unlock rewards available in-game at launch, and play together.”
Activision has not shared any plans to host more beta events before the full Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 experience arrives on all platforms on October 28, 2022.
