The following incidents were listed by police in recent reports obtained through public records requests. The News-Messenger does not publish the names of suspects charged with misdemeanor offenses.
Feb. 25: Police responded to the 800 block of South Street for a domestic trouble call. A woman was arrested for domestic violence. When police arrived they found a woman an injury to her mouth and another had injuries to her face and chest. EMS responded to treat both.
The woman had a verbal argument and the one followed the other into her bedroom and then began wrestling. One woman punched the other and the other responded with a punch. Police arrested the woman who threw the first punch. and transported her to jail.
Feb. 25: Police responded to the 1000 block of Stillwell to serve an arrest warrant. As police approached the house, a suspect fled the location. An officer saw the suspect go down an alley and the officer exited his vehicle and gave chase. The suspect was caught in the 1000 block of White Street. The officers determined the male was not the one for whom they had the initial warrant. But in checking his identification, the man was wanted on a different warrant form Sandusky County Common Pleas Court for nonsupport.
The man was taken to the police department and also charged with obstructing official business. Police returned to the residence and served the original warrant on a male, who was then arrested on a warrant from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Both men were transported to jail.
Feb. 26: Police responded to a accident at Chestnut Street and Ohio Avenue whee a party left the scene. Witnesses reported a white vehicle with a Texas registration left the location after an accident. Police located a vehicle matching the description at a 400 block Second Street address. The vehicle had disabling damage to the rear driver side door at the wheel and fender and airbags deployed.
The owner came outside and had slurred speech and an odor of intoxicating beverages. He told the officer he had pulled into an intersection and was hit. The man admitted to having a couple beers, then a six pack and later half a 12-pack. He declined a sobriety test and was arrested for OVI. The other drive called police as still on scene. He reported the white vehicle pulled out in front of him. The second driver has an suspended license. He was cited for child support suspension. The man at Second Street was cited for failure to yield, leaving the scene and OVI and notified of his license suspension.
Feb. 26: Police responded to ta business in 600 block of East State Street for a domestic violence complaint. A female was arrested for domestic violence. A male and female were in the parking lot in a Jeep arguing with two children and others the car. The male reported the woman hit him in the back of the head and scratched him leaving a visible injury on his thumb.
The woman said she was scratch during the incident and she grabbed a child and exited the vehicle. The mother of the children also was in the car and said it was a blur to her. Her two children were in the vehicle with them. The woman who hit the male was arrested and transported to jail. Children services also were notified.
Feb. 27: Police responded to the 1200 block of Croghan Street for an assault. A woman who advised she was arguing with a man in the car in front of her residence. The male wanted to drive her car and she said no. She said when she told the male he could not driver her car, he struck her in the face. She had a visible injury to the eye.
A witness reported he saw the male in the driver’s seat and woman in passenger seat. He saw the woman kicking the male and the man smack the woman in the face and leave the area. Police did not locate the man in the area. Later the woman called and reported the male was hiding in the basement. Police returned to find an open window in the basement and the male apparently left. He was not located. The report is inactive awaiting a statement from the woman.
Feb. 28: Police ware called to the 100 block of South Wood Street on a domestic violence report. Police arrested a male for domestic violence and took him to jail. When officers arrived a woman advised her ex-boyfriend struck her in the face twice. She advised they still live together.
The woman did have a red mark on her face. She said he was upset with her as she had friends over. She told police he threatened to break her jaw so she could not speak to police. The man told police he had an argument with the woman as she wanted to take his car.
Feb. 28: Police responded to the 1700 block of Moore Street. A woman reported her ex-boyfriend spent the night and they were discussing getting back together. They started to argue. She said he attached her and choked her. She said he hit her over the head with a speaker and threw her phone so she could not call police. She grabbed the phone and called 911. He then took off out a back door.
EMS checked the woman but she declined going to the hospital. A domestic violence charge was filed on the male, but police could not locate him at time. Police determined he has an active warrant out of Lucas County and been convicted of domestic violence in Texas and Fremont Municipal Court.
March 1: Police were called to the high school for a disturbance at 10:21 a.m. Juveniles were involved in a fight in the hall. Staff separated two males. Both were arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the juvenile detention center. A third male juvenile also was cited for disorderly conduct.
March 1: Police were called to the middle school at 11:14 a.m. Two male juveniles reportedly got into a fight in the hallway. A staff member broke up the fight. Both students were arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the juvenile detention center.
March 2: Police were called to the 2000 block of North Ohio 53 for a handicap parking violation at 9:14 a.m. Police were checking handicap parking spots and issued a ticket. Officers also responded to the 1700 block of Cedar Street and issued a citation for a vehicle parking in a handicap parking spot.
March 2: A woman from the 1200 block of Alger Street filed a theft report. She reported a cousin came to her home and she ran to a store leaving him there. When she returned he asked her to take him to a pawn show and she did. When she returned home she discovered her xBox 360 was missing.
The male called while police were with the woman and he told officers he mistakenly pawned the xBox instead of his PS4. He advised he was working to get the xBox back. Police learned from store staff the xBox was pawned for $20. Police filed a theft charge against the male and issued him a court date.
March 2: Police were called to the 1200 block of West State Street for a report of a female being drug by her hair. Police found a woman and witnesses. The woman said she was in her apartment with her boyfriend. He began accusing her of cheating on him and he would not left her leave.
At one point she was able to run out of her apartment and he grabbed her by the hair, dragging her on the ground. Three subjects in a vehicle then stopped to help. Witness said they saw the woman being dragged through stones and the male then threw her cell phone in the street.
Two males from the car confronted the man and he ran into the apartment. Police went to the apartment and the male was not located. The victim said she did not want the man to be arrested as he was having mental issues. The woman agreed to go with her mother for the night.
Police responded twice more to the location on reports the male had returned and were not able to find him. The mother of the victim told police her daughter had welts from being hit with a utility cord. Police noticed later that the woman’s car was missing from the parking lot and issued a BOLO on the stolen vehicle.
The suspect will be charged with domestic violence, unlawful restraint and automobile theft. A warrant was being sought.
March 2: Police responded to the 2000 block of North Ohio 53 for a theft. Police arrested a Clyde woman for theft-shoplifting and possession of drug abuse instruments and a Fremont female for complicity. One woman reportedly put $86 in items in a bag she carried with the other woman handing her items.
During the Clyde woman’s arrested she said she did not want to live and EMS was called and she was transported to the emergency room for evaluation. She was found to be in possession of another man’s check book. ER staff also reported she has drug paraphernalia.
