Xbox Announces September’s Games with Gold

With August coming to an end, it can only mean one thing, a new set of free games is upon us. Xbox has announced September’s Games with Gold and this month marks the last of the backwards compatible classics. Luckily past Xbox/Xbox 360 games claimed from Games with Gold can still be used even if your Xbox Live subscription ends. Additionally, subscribers can still get a hold of one August freebie, Scourgebringer, until September 16. 

Without further a due, here are Xbox’s September Games with Gold:

Gods Will Fall (September 1-30)

For the entirety of September, Xbox Games with Gold subscribers can claim Gods will Fall for Xbox One. Gods will Fall, an action game released last year puts the player in the role of Celtic warriors. Experience brutal trials as you and your band of warriors take on the gods and try to sever their hold on humanity. 

Double Kick Heroes (September 16 – October 15)

Replacing last month’s freebie is the heavy metal rhythm game set in a zombie apocalypse, Double Kick Heroes. Survive on the highway to hell fighting through 30 levels of pure madness! Play through the story mode that takes you on a tour battling rebels, militia, an army of the undead, turkeys and a T-Rex shooting laser beams. Replay your favourite tracks in arcade mode, may the metal be with you. 

Thrillville (September 1-15)

The first of the last backwards compatible games is the amusement park builder, Thrillville. Customise your own amusement park, interact with guests, and build and hop into your own roller coasters and other rides. Race on go-kart tracks, play mini golf on customised courses, and with up to four friends play arcade shoot ’em ups and bumper cars. 

Portal 2 (September 16-30)

Our final game for Games with Gold in September is the absolute classic puzzle game Portal 2. Return to the world of testing with portals in a hilarious adventure taking on the infamous A.I. puppetmaster GLaDOS. After completing the main campaign, take on the cooperative prequel adventure as the robotic duo Atlas and P-Body.
