In an interview with IGN, Microsoft corporate VP Sarah Bond said, “One of the things that I’m super excited about is that we have over 250 developers in Japan developing games for Xbox right now. 150 have already shipped, 100 of them are in Game Pass and we [recently] got to announce 15 titles made in Asia and 13 in Japan.”
Microsoft is also looking forward to making offline gaming much easier for the players. With the new 2208 update, players aren’t going to be forced to do an online compatibility check before playing an Xbox One disc. Instead, players can now just put the disc in, install the game and play without any internet connection.
Though it wasn’t listed in the change logs of update 2208, it was confirmed by the Microsoft gaming console engineering lead, Eden Marie. They confirmed it on Twitter with a reply to a fan’s tweet who was very excited about the new feature.
Yes, this is true since the 2206 update. We examined data since Series X|S launch & determined the online compatibility check isn’t needed in the vast majority of cases for Xbox One discs. Some games may still need to be updated online after install to ensure the best experience.

Great show for Xbox. Hopefully we see Xbox become a publisher for some Japanese studios in the future to where we have jrpg exclusives,
whoever Xbox has out there helping with the ports, they’re doing an amazing job.

Talked to some ppl with Xbox org and hearing the feedback for TGS is extremely positive. I really feel Phil has made big steps in Japan for Xbox, but feel Sarah now is a super strong driving force and we will even see more. Keep an eye out in this sector after the ACTI outcome
