Xbox Game Pass Adds 3 New Day One Games Today

Xbox Game Pass adds three new day one titles across PC, cloud, and consoles today, including one hotly anticipated indie game.

Xbox Game Pass recently announced 8 new games coming to the subscription service, and three of those are set to join today, September 22. For many, Xbox Game Pass is the gift that keeps on giving, and this is true with these three titles as they are all-day one titles.

Day one titles are perhaps Xbox Game Pass’ greatest strength. It allows players to check out games they never would otherwise, on the day and date of release. One of today’s additions has been long-awaited, but it stands to reason the other two may have flown other many radars.

Many fans have been excited and waiting to see Slime Rancher 2 hit Xbox Game Pass, entering it via Early Access/Game Preview today, and it includes several new slimes and other features. It should be noted that, because of this, it doesn’t have features like achievements and the game will continuously be expanded over the next 18 months or so. However, games like Grounded show the potential of early access titles on the service.

Xbox Game Pass New Day One Additions

  • SpiderHeck (Consoles and PC)
  • Beacon Pines (Cloud, Console, PC)
  • Slime Rancher 2 – Game Preview (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X)

The other two games are SpiderHeck and Beacon Pines. All are available through every avenue of Game Pass except SpiderHeck, which will not be playable via Cloud. SpiderHeck is a couch co-op brawler that boasts fast-paced gameplay surrounding spiders using laser swords, grenades, rocket launchers, and more to defeat their foes. It’s an interesting premise, and there’s nothing quite like it on Xbox Game Pass. Meanwhile, Beacon Pines is a “cute and creepy” narrative adventure game where players are the reader and main character of a book, with players able to choose different story paths and change decisions via certain charms. The extra exposure via Xbox Game Pass for these indie games cannot be understated.

However, some days are better suited for some gamers than others. If today’s additions don’t quite hit the mark for some fans, there’s plenty more coming this month: Moonscars and Grounded‘s Full release on September 27, Let’s Build a Zoo and Valheim (Game Preview) on September 29, and Paw Patrol Grand Prix on September 30.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers get a handful of new games every month.
