Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 leaks, predictions and release date

The release date for the Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 selection is near and there are a bunch of leaks and predictions online.

You still have time to enjoy the September offerings provided by Major Nelson. Warhammer Chaosbane and Samurai Showdown II are available unitil September 30th, meanwhile the demigod puzzler Mulaka is available for free until October 15th.

It’s a pretty fine selection, but here’s hoping Microsoft’s offerings for the month of Halloween will be even better.

When is the Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 release date?

The release date for the next batch of Xbox Games with Gold is October 1st, 2021.

There are always four titles throughout the month, with two of them fairly new and recent while the other two are from the Xbox 360 era. One of the modern titles should be available throughout the whole Hallow’s Eve season, whereas the other should become available on the 16th and last until mid-way through November.

As for when the titles will be revealed, there is no established date or pattern as there is with PS Now and PS Plus. However, the line-up will be announced on Major Nelson’s Twitter account before October 1st, and we expect it to happen on September 29th.

Xbox Games with Gold October 2021

One of the supposed Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 leaks says that Hitman 3 will be included in the line-up.

This alleged leak comes courtesy of Twitter user Nils Ahrensmeier (via Gamerant). Their tweet claims to share Hitman 3 artwork with the Xbox Live Gold logo discovered from within Microsoft’s server.

Assuming it’s true and accurate, then it seems likely that the game will instead be part of a future Xbox Live Gold Free Play Days promotion. It only came out in January 2021 so it’s far too recent to be one of the four games planned for October.

Predictions

We’re predicting that there will be a couple of horror titles for the Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 selection.

Songs of Horror the Complete Edition was only released on Xbox consoles in May 2021, so it’s perhaps too recent to be included. However, Major Nelson’s October 2020 line-up included Maid of Sker and that only came out in July 2020.

If not Songs of Horror then maybe we could get Remothered Broken Porcelain. It’s a horror experience that came out last year, so it’s been out for awhile and it isn’t anything particularly brilliant.

Another suggestion is Bendy and the Ink Machine as it’s a more niche horror game with old-school black-and-white cartoon visuals. Our final prediction is Outlast 2 because the first one was offered back in 2016 and because Trials comes out sometime next year.
