Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo discounts teased

It used to be Black Friday was a single day sale that took place on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Over time, it started to encroach on actual Thanksgiving day before consumers finally pushed back and corporations decided to ease up on it. But now, perhaps due to the pandemic, businesses are thirstier than ever for your business. As a result, Black Friday is starting earlier than ever.

Target just announced its Black Friday plans for 2021, which the retailer is referring to as  “Holiday Best.”

This won’t just be a one or two day sale event, this is going to be a sale that runs through the entirety of the holidays, starting this Sunday, October 31. Here’s how it will work.

Every Sunday, Target will unveil new week-long Holiday Best deals in store and online. Discounts will apply to the usual assortment of items, but for us, we only care about electronics, toys, and video games. Items that are tagged “Holiday Best” are confirmed to be the best planned price of the season, so you don’t have to worry about buying a game and it being discounted even more a few weeks later.

A sneak peek for the Holiday Best deals running from October 31 through November 6 has already been teased. In terms of video games, there wasn’t much teased. An add for Call of Duty: Vanguard, which  releases on November 5, is featured but there will be no discount.

For what it’s worth, Target did mention “up to 60% off select video games for Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation.” They didn’t show any in the ad, but I’d expect some older titles for every system to be discounted. They’ll probably also run some promotion like a buy one, get one 50% off as well.

As for discounts on actual consoles, I wouldn’t expect to see any major sales on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. With console shortages expected this holiday season, people will be paying full price, no doubt. And they will be selling out quickly.
