Xbox Series X Owners Are Getting Their Money’s Worth With the New Game Pass Games for October 2022

While cross-gen games are still releasing, Xbox Series X-only games are becoming more common, as evidenced by the new Xbox Game Pass games for October 2022. Cross-gen releases are not uncommon at the start of a console generation, but it’s been nearly two years since the Xbox Series X launched, and it still only has a handful of games built to properly take advantage of its added horsepower. That’s starting to change, though, as more games coming out are launching only for new-gen consoles.

The new Xbox Game Pass games for October 2022 include multiple games that are only coming to Xbox Series X, leaving the older Xbox One console generation behind. One such game has already been released in the form of Medieval Dynasty, a medieval-themed open world survival game. Medieval Dynasty has earned mixed reviews from critics, but it is still notable for being a next-gen only release.

Later this month, Xbox Series X owners have even more Game Pass games to look forward to, with October 14 bringing the likes of first-person horror game Scorn. The long-in-development Scorn will be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup just in time for the Halloween season. Horror fans that have been waiting years to play the game will soon be able to find out if it was worth the wait when it hits Game Pass this coming Friday.

Xbox Series X Game Pass Games for October 2022

  • Medieval Dynasty – Available now
  • Scorn – October 14
  • A Plague Tale: Requiem – October 18
  • Phantom Abyss – October 20

Horror fans may also want to check out another Xbox Series X-only Game Pass game coming this month. A Plague Tale: Requiem is leaving older consoles behind and launching as a day one Xbox Game Pass game on October 18. The sequel to the award-winning A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem is not a pure horror game, but it certainly embraces elements of the genre. Just like its predecessor, A Plague Tale: Requiem features massive hordes of rats that can eat players alive, but there’s even more rats this time around. According to the developers at Asobo Studio, A Plague Tale: Requiem has 300,000 rats on-screen at once, which is jaw-dropping, to say the least.

Yet another Xbox Series X-only game is coming to Game Pass on October 20. It was just recently revealed that Indiana Jones-inspired first-person platformer Phantom Abyss is joining Game Pass on October 20. Phantom Abyss has been available on PC in early access for a while, and it managed to earn a “Very Positive” overall rating during this period. It will be interesting to see if the game is embraced by Xbox Series X owners in the same way come October 20.
