Xbox series X stock – live: Latest UK restock updates from Game, Argos, Currys and more

Microsoft And Sega Form Cloud Gaming Alliance

The Xbox series X launched almost one full year ago, but Microsoft’s next-generation console is still nearly impossible to find in stock anywhere in the UK. The ongoing supply chain crisis has slowed the production of the newest Xbox to a near-standstill, leaving shoppers in the UK wondering where to buy one.

The less powerful Xbox series S is easier to find in stock, but the more advanced Xbox series X sells out within minutes of hitting to the shelves. Knowing when and where the Xbox will be restocked next is key to grabbing one in time.

That’s why we launched our Xbox stock alerts liveblog. If you’re wondering where to buy an Xbox series X in the UK today, we’re here to help. Below, we’ll update you with the latest live restock updates as soon as they happen, as well as any news on predicted restock dates, new games and accessories and milestone events.

The best VPN for the Xbox series X

If you stream Netflix on your Xbox, a virtual private network allows you to spoof your location and access movies and TV shows not normally available in your country.

You can’t install a VPN directly to an Xbox series X, but you can install one on your laptop and route your console’s internet connection through that. You can also install some VPNs on routers to cover all of your devices in one go.

The Xbox series X headsets to look out for

The Xbox series X is often bundled with a gaming headset to bump up the price and stave off scalpers.

The console doesn’t come with its own headset ,but it’s compatible with all existing headsets for the Xbox One. The Xbox wireless controller (£54.99, Currys.co.uk) also has a headphone jack, so you can plug in your regular headphones to have game audio play through them rather than your TV, which is ideal if you’re sharing a room with somebody you don’t want to disturb.

If you need to upgrade or you don’t have your own headset yet, Microsoft sells the wireless Xbox series X headset separately (£89.99, Game.co.uk). Lots of third-party manufacturers make Xbox compatible headsets too. We’ve rounded up the best gaming headsets you can buy today.

When will Smyths Toys restock the Xbox?

It’s sold out right now, but Smyths Toys is one of three retailers to sell Microsoft’s console through the Xbox All Access programme, the pay-as-you-go alternative to ponying up £449 for the Xbox series X up front.

The retailer last stocked the Xbox All Access scheme on 24 September and last had any stock of the Xbox series X itself on 9 September.

Those previous restocking patterns suggest another restock at Smyths this week.

How to buy an Xbox series X online

It’s all quiet on the Xbox front this morning, so let’s go over some things you can do right now to be ready when the next restock happens.

  • Register an account at each of the retailers that stock the Xbox series X. They’re listed in the main article above.
  • Ensure your correct payment details are saved in your browser on desktop, or on Google Pay or Apple Pay on your phone.
  • Are you a BT customer, or know somebody who is? Register your interest on the BT site to get exclusive access to BT’s next drop.
  • Sign up for a 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, in case the retailer makes its next Xbox drop a Prime-exclusive.
  • Download each retailer’s app (if they have one) and add the Xbox series X to your wish list or “save for later” list.
  • When the console drops, use the link in your wish list to add the Xbox to your trolley or basket – this usually has a higher success rate than navigating through the website.
  • Keep note of the prices of bundles to ensure you’re getting a good deal. Rounding up, the console itself is £450, controllers are £50, the official headset is £90, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs £11 per month. Newly released game are £60, but retailers usually bundle older games with the console.
  • The pay-as-you-go Xbox All Access programme is good value for money, so long as you don’t already have a Game Pass subscription.
  • Don’t buy a console on social media, these are always scams.

When will Asda restock the Xbox series X?

Asda restocks are few and far between. The retailer last sold an Xbox series X on 12 October, and before that in late September when it broke a long stockless spell that had lasted a full three months.

The console is sold out now, of course, but the timings of these infrequent drops suggests we might see another restock in November.

Here’s how to find a PS5 in stock

The rival PlayStation 5 is a little easier to find in stock right now. Demand is still high, but the console is more frequently restocked too.

If you’re not quite ready to give up just yet, then stick with us here to bag an Xbox series X. More drops are coming, we can feel it in our bones.

When did Argos last restock the Xbox series X?

Argos lets you get as far as checking out with an Xbox series X before showing the console as unavailable for collection or delivery. However, we’ve seen some shoppers able to grab a console at their nearest branch, so stick your postcode into the product page to check your local store.

Otherwise, the best way to buy an Xbox series X from Argos is through the app. Add the console to your wish list, which lets you slip the Xbox into your basket in advance for a speedy checkout when the time comes.

When did Currys last restock the Xbox series X?

Suspect number two in our lineup is Currys.

The retailer restocked the Xbox series X last week, when it was sold as part of a bundle containing the Xbox elite wireless controller 2. Just like Amazon, this surprise drop marked the end of a long period of stocklessness for Currys, which suggests the retailer could be in line to receive more regular allocations of Microsoft’s next-generation console.

We advise using the Currys app when new stock appears, as it can often list the console before the main website gets wind of it.
