Xbox Series X stock hunters have received a much-needed boost ahead of the start of 2022. It’s been over a year since the Xbox Series X first launched and the powerful Microsoft console is still not readily available, with restocks of the in-demand system less frequent than the PS5 in the UK during 2021. However, as we get closer and closer to the start of 2022 Xbox fans have been handed a surprise boost.
As this year drew to a close an unprecedented Xbox Series X restock went live, which hopefully bodes well for 2022.
This restock came courtesy of Amazon UK, with the Xbox Series X stock becoming available to buy on December 23.
So far, not exactly surprising. But what was a turn-up for the books was this restock lasted for an unprecedented amount of time.
While Xbox Series X restocks tend to sell out at lightning fast speeds, this latest stock drop lasted for over a day.
Xbox Series X stock was available to buy on both December 23 and December 24 – with anyone purchasing on the day before Christmas Eve able to get their shiny new next-gen console delivered in time for Christmas.
The Amazon Xbox Series X stock is now sold out, but hopefully the record level of availability is a sign of things to come as we head into 2022.
And the Xbox Series X isn’t the only console which was in stock for a hefty amount of time.
On December 23 the PS5 also came back in stock at GAME. And, in a surprise turn of events, a number of bundles GAME had listed were available days later.
Even today (December 28) some five days after the latest PS5 restock went live at GAME a number of purchase options were still available.
These bundles, which have consistently been in stock since first dropping, were PS5 Disc consoles that included Spider-Man Miles Morales either on its own, or with an extra DualSense controller.
For anyone looking to get either a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, this is great news – especially after a year in which the vast majority of Xbox Series X and PS5 restocks still required military-grade planning so gamers were able to jump on these stock drops as soon as it became available and get an order in.
And, with the number of incredible releases planned for 2022, getting as many next-gen consoles underneath gamers’ TVs during the next 12 months will be crucial for both Sony and Microsoft.
The PS5 has an incredible selection of exclusives coming in 2022, including Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok.
While for the Xbox Series X and Game Pass subscribers 2022 is also looking very impressive, with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Redfall and Starfield – Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years – on the horizon.
Game Pass will also be getting plenty of indie and third-party gems in 2022 such as Replaced, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Trek to Yomi, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and much more.
Besides these releases, there will be plenty of high-profile games heading to both systems such as the eagerly anticipated Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and the new Saints Row.
