It’s been an incredibly slow summer for the gaming industry and Xbox, in particular, has been hit with some unfortunate delays. Both Redfall and Starfield, the former of which was expected this summer, have been pushed back to 2023. Starfield was slated to be Xbox’s big holiday blockbuster, leaving a massive hole to be filled.
Things aren’t looking too much brighter for Xbox in August, at least from a first-party exclusive perspective, although there are some third-party titles that are sure to find a sizable audience.
The first is Madden NFL 23 which, I mean, honestly. Football season is right around the corner and Madden is always an easy sell as it’s the only NFL sim on the market. This year’s big new feature is FieldSENSE, a gameplay system available only on the Xbox Series X|S (and PS5) versions that promises “consistent, ultra-realistic gameplay.”
The second big game coming in August is Saints Row, the reboot of Volition’s over-the-top action-adventure series. Saints Row takes players to the fictional city of Santo Ileso, which is loosely based on Las Vegas. With three criminal gangs vying for control of the region, “The Boss” (aka you) will assemble your own gang to take them on.

The Cowabunga Collection features 13 previously released classic TMNT games by Konami all in one package. With the recently released TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge blowing me away with its old-school charm, I can’t wait to dive into these classics.
