The news comes via Team17’s latest financial report, stating plans to bring another title onto Xbox consoles in 2021 in the form of Hell Let Loose. The game is currently in early access on Steam but is looking at a full release later in 2021. Hell Let Loose is a World War II simulation of some of the bloodiest battlefields in the conflict, including Omaha Beach, Carentan, The Foy, and six others. Each map is built in Unreal Engine 4 using real reconnaissance images and satellite data to recreate the battlefields. Interestingly, each map contains 99 capture point variations, meaning there are potentially thousands of different battle configurations.
Hell Let Loose features 50v50 battles where players must use teamwork to set up supply lines, reinforce strategic positions, or flank the enemy. The game is centred around a leadership structure, pushing players to work as a unit instead of singular play focusing on K/D ratios so communication will be vital if you are to succeed. Black Matter says: “At its core is a unique resource-based strategic meta-game that is easy to learn, but hard to master.”
Currently, you can play as one of 14 different roles, ranging from Officer and Tank Commander to Recon, Machine Gunner, and Medic. Each role will feature different weapons, items, and in the case of armoured roles, different vehicle types. There are plenty of iconic weapons and vehicles available, including Sherman and Tiger tanks.
The game currently has 101 Steam Achievements, giving us a good indication of what we can expect when the game drops on Xbox. Most of the list is cumulative for ranking up and performing certain actions such as capturing sectors, resupplying teammates, etc. We will let you know when we have a definitive list of achievements coming to the Xbox version of the game.
Hell Let Loose is slated for release later this year on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. We’re expecting to see Battlefield 6 make an appearance later this year, which is rumoured to return to a modern setting, giving Hell Let Loose a chance to cover the historical war simulation without butting heads with Dice’s behemoth franchise. Will you be joining the fight? Let us know down below!
