Xbox Live has been doing Games With Gold since the Xbox 360 was still in production, and while Xbox has been doing Xbox Game Pass,  players who aren’t on board to make the jump to it can still reap the rewards for Xbox Live Games with Gold, as Games With Gold will allow players to download these games for free. Xbox Game Pass users also benefit from this deal as well since the games are still available after ending Xbox Live Game Pass. Here are the games that players are going to be able to play when they come to Games With Gold in August.

The third installment of the Darksiders series brings back the fan-favorite character Fury, who’s on a quest to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins. The player takes control of this mage and can use their magic whip to defeat enemies, as well as complete challenging puzzles and platforming sections. The world is also filled to the brim with things for the player to do as they conquer their quest to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins, traveling from the post-apocalyptic world between heaven and hell, as well as worlds within.

Darksiders is a fan favorite RPG title, and for good reason. Lucky for Xbox players, they’re able to download this game for free next month, saving them a whopping $60 in the process.

Many 3D platforming fans have been wanting a true collect-a-thon platformer in the modern-day, and many point to the game Banjo-Kazooie. While -Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts may have been the final nail in the coffin for franchise, some of the developers behind the original Rareware came back to start a new company called Playtonic, which created a new game called Yooka-Laylee. Starting originally on Kickstarter, the game toted its veteran developer team as the main selling point of the game, pointing out that the characters and worlds are going to feel just like they did in the Nintendo 64 days. With this promise from the developers, the game was funded quickly, and Yooka-Laylee began development. The game was released three years later, and originally was not received very well, as many of the levels felt barren and unlike what many players would’ve expected from a game of this caliber.

Many claimed the game didn’t feel like a spiritual successor to the original Banjo titles and felt more like a copycat. However, after some time and a second game which took place in 2.5D, many players grew to like the game, praising its charm, writing, and similar visual style to Banjo. While the game isn’t perfect, any players with Games with Gold looking to scratch their 3D platformer itch will be satisfied with the game, especially since Xbox players are going to receive the game for free August.

The third entry in the Lost Planet franchise, a series published by Capcom. The story takes place on the frozen planet EDN-III, with players able to complete a vast single-player campaign as well as a vast online multiplayer that spans multiple map packs. While Lost Planet is more of a lost series these days, the game will still be entertaining and will get a boost in its multiplayer on Xbox when it becomes free in August on Games With Gold.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is an SNK fighting game, featuring characters from across the company’s library, like Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. Originally released for the Neo Geo, the game is actually the nineth installment of the Fatal Fury series. The Xbox version of the game includes online multiplayer, as well as all the content from the original arcade version of the game. Garou: MotF is a one-of-a-kind SNK title and will definitely have something that all fighting game fans are looking for. Making it one of the highlights of the Xbox 360 lineup for Games with Gold.

Xbox seems to not be disappointing this month with their Games With Gold offerings, bringing back some well-deserved multiplayer titles, as well as some fantastic single-player offerings for players who own an Xbox One this month.
